The private sector accounted for all net job gains, with 139,000 jobs added in May. 

For the third straight month, jobs in the U.S. have increased according to the May report from the White House. 

“More than 139,000 good jobs were added to the private sector in May, all accounted for by American-born workers,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in a White House press release.

According to the report, the U.S. added over 139,000 jobs. The private sector accounted for all net job gains. 

Of the added jobs, leisure and hospitality saw an increase in 48,000 jobs. Transportation and warehousing added 5,800 jobs, and construction added 4,000 jobs. According to the report, May was the fourth straight month of job increases in construction. 

The report also showed that wages are rising for Americans under the Trump Administration. Over the past year, average hourly earnings have increased by nearly 4%. 

The Trump Administration said that disposable income has risen at a 7.5% annualized pace, which the administration says is more than three times the pace than the final year of the Biden Administration. 

The jobs are also going to American workers, the report shows. 

“Native-born American workers now account for ALL job gains since President Trump took office in January – reversing the opposite trend from the past two years,” the White House press release said. 

Under President Trump, 98.8% of jobs added have been in the private sector. Under the Biden administration, one in four jobs were created in government during the final two years of his term in office. 

“President Trump and this Administration once again produced the best month of job creation since taking office, demolishing economists’ expectations. This Administration is proving the cynics wrong and American workers, families, and businesses are winning,” said a statement from Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling. 

“Under the President’s leadership, American workers are seeing benefits in real time: rising wages, increased affordability, and over 903,000 private sector jobs added. The Department of Labor remains committed to advancing a bold, pro-worker agenda and will continue delivering for the American people.”
