Here’s a look at the candidates competing to represent the Cincinnati region in Washington, D.C. and the state legislature.
Ohio U.S. Senate Race
Republican incumbent Senator Jon Husted is campaigning for another term in the U.S. Senate against former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown, who is attempting to return to Washington in this special election.
Husted was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine to serve the remainder of Vice President J.D. Vance’s term in the Senate and is now running for a full term. He has been focused on economic growth, ratepayer protection for consumers facing higher utility costs from data centers, and border security.
Brown served three terms in the Senate before losing reelection in 2024. His campaign is focused on healthcare access and lowering costs for families.
The race is highly competitive and could determine which party controls the Senate following November’s election.
OH-1 Congressional Race
In Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, incumbent Democratic Representative Greg Landsman is seeking a third term in the U.S. House. He is challenged by Republican Eric Conroy.
Landsman won the seat in 2022. He is a former teacher who served on the Cincinnati City Council prior to running for Congress. He has focused his time in office on helping retired servicemembers and fighting government corruption.
During his time at City Hall, Landsman started the Office of Good Government and Ethics.
Conroy served in the Air Force and is a former CIA cast officer. According to his campaign, Conroy plans to focus on fighting inflation by controlling wasteful government spending, securing American energy independence, and cutting red tape for small businesses.
Landsman has a significant cash advantage over Conroy. Earlier this month, several national Republican groups pulled funding from the race after pledging financial support to Conroy. The race has been rated “Lean Democrat.”
Current polls show Landsman leading by just two to four percentage points over Conroy.
Ohio House District 24
Incumbent Democratic state Representative Dani Isaacsohn is running unopposed to represent the Cincinnati area in November’s election.
He has represented the district since 2023 and has focused on education, the economy, and government accountability during his time in office.
Ohio House District 25
Incumbent state Representative Cecil Thomas is also running unopposed to represent Cincinnati in the state legislature. He has held office since 2023.
Thomas is a previous state senator who also served as a Cincinnati police officer.
Ohio House District 26
In Ohio’s 26th state House district, incumbent Representative Ashley Bryant Bailey will be defending her seat against former Republican state Representative and U.S. Senate candidate Tom Brinkman Jr.
Bailey has been in office since 2025. She was appointed to the seat by the Ohio House Democratic Caucus to replace Sedrick Denson and won an unopposed primary to compete for another term.
Brinkman was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 until 2022, when he did not run for reelection.
Ohio House District 27
Incumbent Democratic state Representative Rachel Baker will face Republican challenger Nancy Aichholz for Ohio’s 27th House District.
Baker is a nurse researcher who has held the seat since 2023. She has focused her time in office on healthcare, mental health services, and improving educational opportunities in the region.
Aichholz, the Republican challenger, replaced Elizabeth Maier on the ballot after Maier withdrew from the race. Aichholz previously held office in the Indian Hill Exempted Village School District.
Ohio Senate District 9
In Ohio’s 9th Senate District, the race will be uncontested. Incumbent Senator Catherine Ingraham has held the seat since 2021 and is running unopposed.
