The Toledo Museum of Art celebrated the opening of its spectacular new $75 million Glass Pavilion expansion Thursday, adding 40,000 square feet of gallery space dedicated to contemporary glass art and interactive installations from artists around the world.

Designed by the renowned architectural firm SANAA, the new wing features floor-to-ceiling glass walls that blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating what director Adam Levine calls “a living dialogue between art and nature.” The expansion houses works by Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, and emerging glass artists from Ohio’s own vibrant studio glass community.

The expansion also includes a state-of-the-art glass-blowing studio where visitors can watch live demonstrations and participate in workshops. Admission remains free, continuing the museum’s 125-year tradition of open access to the arts.
